Making the decision to seek help – whether to address life’s challenges, navigate a difficult decision, or focus on personal growth – is a courageous and significant step. While this journey can sometimes feel overwhelming, I am committed to walking alongside you as we work toward your goals. I enjoy helping others to explore and process difficult emotions and build tools for connection and improved communication. It is my honor to walk this path of inner healing with you.
I am an Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Level 1 IFS Therapist, and Trained Trauma-Informed Yoga Teacher. I have had the privilege of experiencing different roles throughout my work history. Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked in the information and technology industry, specifically in operations, marketing, and services, for over twenty years, and I gained a great deal from those experiences.
My initial career as a counselor began in 2017 after attending a community awareness meeting at my church. You may have heard the phrase, “God doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies the called.” I am not certain who first coined this phrase; however, this truth encouraged me to pursue the path I had been called to follow.
After deciding to leave the technology industry, I felt called to pursue a career in clinical social work. During my journey, I have been given the opportunity to serve individuals and families of diverse ages, backgrounds, and presenting problems in hospital and community settings.
As a community volunteer shortly prior to and during COVID, I served individuals who had been rescued from human trafficking, as well as those who had been affected by domestic violence. During this time, I became a trained trauma-sensitive yoga teacher.
After earning my master’s in social work, I invested time as a therapist in the inpatient environment, and as a clinical manager with a Medicated Assisted Treatment (MAT) program working with individuals who were struggling with substance use.
I then shifted to group therapy practice at a mental health hospital located in our community where I supported adolescents and adults who struggled with disordered eating, substance use, and other mental health issues. At the mental health hospital, I led individual and group psychotherapy sessions leveraging various therapeutic techniques.
My interests in trauma healing and systems led me to embrace Internal Family Systems (IFS), a client-empowered and non-pathologizing model of treatment, which has become the mainstay focus of treatment for all my clients since 2023. IFS has a move toward energy. It provides a way of healing issues we thought would always plague us and fosters compassion within ourselves and with others.
I specialize in embodied, mindfulness-based approaches to mental health. As a therapist, I aim to make your therapeutic experience feel safe and welcoming, while also providing you with positive encouragement that can help you discover new perceptions, process difficult emotions, and explore one’s strengths. Clients describe me as warm and empathetic. Equally important is that I can provide my clients with the tools and techniques necessary to forge their individual path to making positive and lasting change.
Outside of work, I enjoy investing time with family and close friends, practicing yoga, and volunteering with my church. I look forward to getting to know you!
